It goes with me on every vacation, every activity with the kids, and every day trip. I have taken so many great pictures, and the ones that weren't so great I can delete them immediately. You'd be surprised as to how much better of a photographer you will become by taking many many photos. Just make sure you buy a large enough memory card (or stick) to hold the hundreds of photos you are going to take. The card that comes with the camera will never hold enough to make you happy, but it does act as a good back up.
Help Your Community For nine years I volunteered my time in a local youth sports organization. I spent five of those years as the organization's president. It was without a doubt one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. The only thing it cost me was my time, unless you count the $10 for the shirt I bought with the organization's name on it. If you have the time and desire to help others, find an organization in your area to help. You can serve food at the local soup kitchen, to helping with the Red Cross, to anything in between. Get out there and help, your area needs you.
Become a Writer I never thought I would be a writer, yet since I took up this hobby a little over a year ago, I have written nearly a thousand articles on a variety of topics. But what really lends appeal to this watch is the red circle that runs on the outside of the hour marks - highlighting the various touch functions - that is complemented by the red rubber band. A very beautiful, modern looking watch.

The T-Touch Classic from Tissot is a very stylish watch that would be desirable whether it had touch-driven technology or not. I'm a great fan of Swiss watches, especially of manufacturers who try to incorporate the latest technology. Watch makers like Rado and Patek Philippe are desired and loved because of the way they marry technology with beauty. Tissot watches, I feel, is one such watchmaker.

Personally I always have been and always will be a sports car kind of guy. I'm about as likely to trade in my sports car for a truck, van, station wagon, family sedan or even an SUV as I am to start wearing corduroys and Dockers or boat shoes and crocs; it's just not going to happen, not now, not later, not ever. My sports car defines my style and YES style matters, it's who I am and how I relate to my world.

Now personal history tells me lots of people either don't know what they want and who they are or are too willing to compromise those things without a moment's hesitation. I can speak from personal experience. Some years back before I'd discovered the world of mountain bikes never mind the folding mountain bike or better yet the Army Recon folding mountain bike by Rietti I bought an Eagle Talon. Now being a bit of a trend setter and possessing a clear sense of personal style I also, before the fad, picked up a thin, supple lambskin button up ¾ black leather jacket on a business trip to London, England. Although I was the first of my friends to own both a black leather jacket of this cut and style and also the first to buy an Eagle Talon I would not be the last. Shortly afterwards two of my friends proceeded to buy the coat and the car and then there were three.

Now for me my Eagle Talon served my purposes perfectly. It had decent gas mileage for a high performance machine, was relatively easy to park, could comfortably take one passenger (my girlfriend) and was uncomfortable enough to discourage unwelcome, tag-a-longs thanks to the microscopic back seat. Also importantly the back seat folded down and I could remove the wheels from my Kona 'Lavadome' mountain bike and although somewhat dirty and somewhat inconvenient in the days prior to folding mountain bikes I was able to take my mountain bike on regular off-roading weekend adventures. As for my two friends, well, six months after buying an Eagle Talon they traded it in for an SUV, a mortgage and a white picket fence with the wife and 2.5 kids. Of course I'm exaggerating for effect but it does make me wonder if some people really know what they're looking for if they're willing to change their mind faster than I change gears.

Now to be honest I'm not much of a gearhead or even much of an extreme/adrenaline athlete or enthusiast and I'm not keen on adding more war scars like the ones I picked up in the year that I squeezed my mountain bike into the back seat of my sports car. Creating the “Ultimate Home Game Room” isn’t as hard as you may think. “Ultimate” doesn’t necessarily mean the most expensive game room either. It just means it’s ultimate for you, your family and your friends.

The basics for every game room include “games & signs”. That’s all it takes to create your game room. Of course some organization is also needed, you don’t want a mess of posters, pub signs and neon signs taking up your walls.

Creating Your “Ultimate Home Game Room”

To do this you start with the wall colors. The best looking game rooms have two-toned wall color schemes. This means a top border around the room that’s 12-24 inches in width. Then paint the rest of the room a complimentary color.

It’s fun choosing a color scheme. Use your favorite sports team, your high school / university colors, the colors of your home country or a favorite painting or place you’ve visited. If those colors aren’t good just select Two Great compatible colors. It’s usually best to make the darker color your border color and the lighter color as your main wall color. This brightens up the room and helps your cool signs and posters to display better.

Next comes the flooring. There is a variety of floors that can be put into game rooms. Sensory stimulation programs are a critical component of an activity program in long-term care facilities. To have the greatest impact on your residents, sensory stimulation programs and interventions must be individualized and meaningful. The two easiest and effective ways of developing successful sensory programs is by creating individualized sensory boxes and theme-related sensory kits.

Individualized sensory boxes can be one of the most effective ways to elicit responses from lower functioning residents, or residents with Alzheimer's disease or related dementias. The important thing is to gather items that are of greatest interest and importance to the resident and utilize these items during sensory sessions. Once a sensory box is created, label it with the resident's name and determine the appropriate location to keep the box (resident's room, nurses' station, day room, etc.) Maintaining these boxes takes commitment and organization, but is well worth the effort.

The most challenging aspect of creating these personalized sensory boxes is gathering the appropriate materials. One way is to purchase items based on the resident's initial activity assessment. The dollar store is always a good option, however, some of the greatest sensory boxes I have created came from items provided by family members. Not only is it a wonderful way to gather unique and specific items of interest for a particular resident, but it is also a method of informing family members that the activity department is providing specialized programming for their loved one. The following is an example letter that you may send to the family members:

Dear Family Member,

The Recreation Department of (name of facility) offers sensory stimulation programs, one of the most common types of activities found in long-term care facilities. Simply stated, sensory stimulation is a technique that provides meaningful and common smells, movements, feels, sights, sounds, and tastes through the stimulation of all six senses. There are many benefits to providing sensory stimulation such as increased communication, environmental awareness, relaxation, cognitive stimulation, opportunity to build a rapport, enjoyment of a leisure experience, increased quality of life and much more.

We would like to offer a personalized sensory stimulation program for your loved one by creating a Sensory Box. The Sensory Box will be filled with your loved ones favorite items and is generally used with those residents who are in the later stages of Alzheimer's Disease or other Dementia related disorders. The box will be utilized by the staff but are also a great tool for you to use during your own visits, making your visits more meaningful.

4) Tackle Box-fill a plastic tackle box with items such as fishing lures, reels, small rod, bobbers, etc. (remove all hooks), vanilla extract (often used on hands to cover-up fishy smell)
5) Cooler-fill a small cooler with sporting event items such as: water bottle, binoculars, pictures of sports teams, sunglasses, vintage beer ads, baseball cap, a variety of small, soft sports balls (soccer ball, baseball, basketball, hockey puck, etc.). smell of popcorn, peanuts, etc.

The most creative kits are created in advance and incorporate all of the senses. The following is an example of a Sensory Planning Form

Olfactory (smell): fresh fruits, fruit-scented aroma oils, fruit-scented hand lotion, fruit scented candles

Tactile (Touch): variety of plastic fruits, fresh fruits (peaches especially), familiar objects with fruit designs (towels, oven mitts etc.)

Visual (Sight): pictures of fruit, plastic fruits, fresh fruits, familiar objects

Auditory (Sound): music (In the Shade of the Old Apple Tree, Life is Like a Bowl of Cherries), fruit-shaped shakers

Gustatory (Taste): fresh fruits, fruit juices, lemonade, fruit Jell-O, applesauce, sherbet, fruit smoothies, fruit pies: fruit-flavored lip balm or lemon glycerin swabs for NPO

Sample Questions:

• What is your favorite fruit?
• Did you ever have a fruit tree? (Cherry, Peach, Apple, Pear, etc.)
• Did you ever have a grape vine?
• What is your favorite way to eat fruit?

Anyhow the team's name is originally derived from Johnny Canuck. It was a 19th century Canadian Cartoon that was several times reincarnated throughout the 20th century.
